Ex-Gdsm Danny McLaughlin contacted the Regimental veterans Officer (RVO) after finding himself homeless in Sunderland.  With the help and guidance of the RVO he was initially provided temporary accommodation at the Salvation Army Centre in Sunderland and was then allocated a flat through the Local Authorities. The RVO has conducted regular visits to see Danny and to make sure support was being provided throughout.

When Danny moved into his flat, the Welsh Guards Charity provided a grant to purchase basic furniture and household necessities with other Service Charities also helping with grants for carpets and a cooker.

Danny has now settled into his new home, has recently found employment and is able to have his young children visit him at home. He is very grateful for the speedy support of the Welsh Guards Charity and is in a much better place now.”
