On Saturday 17th November Warrant Officer Class 2, Drill Sergeant Dan Cope represented the Battalion at the South Wales Police (Heddlu De Cymru) charity boxing event held at The Vale Resort, Cardiff.

As has become traditional, the evening was organised to raise funds for local charities and for the Welsh Guards Charity.  The night was made even more poignant as Stuart Elson, a serving policeman and the father of LCpl Dane Elson (RIP) who was killed in Afghanistan on 5th July 2009, was on the bill to box twice - no mean feat at 59 years of age!

Stuart and his wife Alison are wonderful supporters of the Welsh Guards Charity and were kind enough to present a cheque to the Charity for £1,500.

We are extremely grateful to Stuart, Alison and their whole family and of course the South Wales Police for their continued support.
